The R100-5 controls five electric heating elements—two for the HLT, two for the Boil Kettle, and one dedicated RIMS element. Dual 50A power inputs and integrated electrical interlocks manage available power throughout the brewing process while providing the heating capacity needed for larger electric systems.

Unlike conventional RIMS controllers that often rely on lower-wattage heating elements to minimize temperature overshoot and reduce the risk of scorching, the R100-5 can control a RIMS element up to 6,000 watts while allowing the brewer to independently adjust how much power is delivered to that element.

Run the RIMS element at full power when you need rapid heating, then reduce its maximum power output during wort recirculation for smooth, precise mash temperature control. This gives you the heating capacity of a larger element when you need it—and the gentle, controlled heat of a smaller element when you don't.

Variable Power RIMS Control

The R100-5 uses two dedicated controllers working together to manage the RIMS heating element.

One controller sets the maximum percentage of power available to the RIMS element, while the second monitors wort temperature and cycles the element as needed to maintain the desired temperature setpoint.

This dual-control approach provides the best of both worlds:

Supports a RIMS heating element up to 6,000 watts at 240V
Use up to 100% element power when rapid heating is needed
Reduce available element power during wort recirculation for precise, gentle heating
Effectively allows a high-output RIMS element to behave like a lower-wattage element when desired
Helps minimize temperature overshoot
